Quechee, VT – Raymond J. Herb, Sr,, 83, died September 14, 2018 at home in Quechee, VT after a gallant battle with Cancer, Alzheimers and Dementia.
He was born October 5, 1934 a son of Leo Herb and Elizabeth (Kapmeyer) Herb of Bridgeport, Connecticut. Ray served proudly with the U.S. Army and was stationed at Thule Air Force Base in Greenland, where he was recognized as a Knight of the Blue Nose. He was the proprietor of a sheet metal fabrication business, R.J. Herb & Sons in Monroe, Connecticut and subsequently owned and operated the Fairlee Motel and Drive-In Theater of Fairlee, Vermont.
Predeceased by his wife of nearly 60 years, Elaine C. Herb; his parents and siblings, Dorothy Herb Swansiger, Leo Herb, Jr., and Betty Herb Cummings.
He is survived by his four children, Diane Herb Landock, Raymond Herb, Jr, Thomas Herb and Patricia Herb Zinski, as well as 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held Sunday, September 15th from 7-9pm, at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor, Vermont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Denis Catholic Church in Hanover, NH, at 11am Monday, September 17th, followed by burial at 1pm in the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph Center, Vermont.
