Wolde Christos Bekele passed away on June 11, 2011, at the age of 76. His field was economics and banking, and he did his graduate studies for an MBA and PhD at New York University. He married Pauline Plummer of Plainfield in 1966 and they settled in Parkway Village in Queens, NY. He worked as a country economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and at the United Nations, and as a bank examiner for the State of New York, retiring in May 2001.

Besides Pauline, he is survived by a son, and his wife; a daughter, and her husband; and grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother,  and sister-in-law, of Dallas, Texas. Wolde's life was an inspiration to his family and they will cherish his memory always.

Funeral services were held in Queens on June 17. Burial services are at the Plainfield Cemetery, at 11:00 A.M., July 12, 2011, with Reverend Suellen Leugers officiating.
