Hartland, VT- William R. "Bill" Blodgett, 65, died Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital in St. Johnsbury, VT.

Bill was born March 24, 1959, in Doylestown, PA, a son of Ralph and Sylvia (LaFountain) Blodgett. He moved to Hartland in 1965 and graduated from Hartford High School in 1977. Bill worked in many kitchens throughout the Upper Valley and was passionate about his cooking. He was known for his Jack Daniels barbecue sauce and his New Year's Day oyster stew. He was an active member of the Hartland community; he was involved with the Hartland Historical Society and a forty-year veteran of the Hartland Volunteer Fire Department. Bill was well known for his love of old cars, and he enjoyed driving. He often could be found set up in his "Office", an early 1990's Oldsmobile, people would stop by to chat.  Bill loved Hartland history and family genealogy.  In 2019, he moved to Windsor and later to St. Johnsbury due to his illness.

Bill is preceded in death by a brother, Peter. He is survived by a brother, Richard 'Dick' (Velma) of White River Junction; a sister, Martha Blodgett Frost (Wesley David) of Swanton, VT; a nephew and 5 nieces, and a select group of longtime close friends. The family wanted to express a special thank you to Steve Davis for all that he did for Bill.

A graveside service will be held in the Hartland Village Cemetery, 11am Friday, August 30, 2024, with a reception to follow at the American Legion in Hartland, VT.
