Enfield, NH— William D. Beattie, 91, died on Sunday, November 27, 2022, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock in Lebanon, NH.

Born August 10, 1931, to William and Goldie (Giroux) Beattie, he grew up in Wilder. Bill graduated with Hartford High School's Class of 1950, and shortly after married Gloria DePalo at St. Anthony's Church in White River Junction. The couple raised their family in Dover Plains and Millbrook, NY.

Bill went on to work for the State of New York as an athletic director, then went to work for IBM in Poughkeepsie, NY, where he retired in 1987. The couple retired to their family home on Mascoma Lake in Enfield in 1995. Bill always remarked on some of his favorite memories: bowling with friends, boating, and many weekly family gatherings.

He leaves behind his wife of 72 years, Gloria Beattie of Enfield, his children, William Beattie, Jr. and wife Melissa, Joseph Beattie, Marshall Beattie and partner Yvonne Martin, Scott Beattie and wife Joan, David Beattie and wife Mary, and Margaret Farley and husband Sheldon; his ten grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, from 5-7 PM at Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, December 1, at St. Anthony's Church in White River, with burial to follow in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
