Obituary

Hartford, VT- Wendell J. McMillan, 82, died June 28, 2022 at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.

Wendell was born August 28, 1939 in New York, NY, a son of Ernest and Ruby Immaculate (Willie) McMillan. He grew up in Washington, VT and joined the Navy in 1957. He was stationed on the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt and was honorably discharged in 1962 as a Seaman. He returned to Vermont and went to work as a truck driver for Anchor Motor Freight in Champlain, NY for many years, he also worked with his brother John McMillan as an over the road trucker and at Jasmin Auto. He was last employed at the Lebanon Sew and Vac, where he worked beside his wife.

Wendell was an active member of the Lebanon Elks BPOE, Shriners, American Legion, a 32 nd degree Mason, and the American Legion Riders Club all in Lebanon, NH. He was always willing to help at any club function. His love for life was expressed with his vibrant spirit, willing to go the extra mile when you were in need. He loved his trucks and motorcycles, and made sure they were always in good shape and had a good shine. Wendell loved to spend his days with his wife and two dogs, Miska and Lexie, who miss him very much.

He was predeceased by his brothers, John, and Robert "Bobby" McMillan.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn McMillan of Hartford, VT; six children, Roxanne McMillan of Alburg, VT, Richard Allen McMillan (Ricky) of Grand Isle, VT, Edward Scott McMillan (Andy) of Alburg, Bronson McMillan (Tigger) of Nashville, TN, Heather Carpenter of Lynchburg, VA, Wendy Jewell of Lebanon, NH; grandchildren, Kayla Patnode, Stuart Cleland, Kyle McMillan, Jenna McMillan, Connor McMillan, Makala Carpenter, Madison Druge, Makenna Druge, Brianna McMillan, Trevor McMillan, Adam Tatro, Alex Tatro, many great grandchildren; many other family and friends including Reggie Tatro and Trina Tatro.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center for the outstanding care and reassurance they provided.

A memorial service will be held at 2PM on Saturday, September 17 th , 2022 in the Hartford Cemetery. A luncheon will immediately follow at the American Legion in Lebanon, NH.
