Obituary

White River Junction, VT – Wendal L. Farrar, 85, died unexpectedly June 24, 2017 in Wilder, VT.

Wendal was born December 14, 1931 in St. Albans, VT, a son of Lynn and Lucy(Gross) Farrar. He grew up in Highgate, VT and graduated from Highgate High School class of 1949.In 1951 Wendal was married to Nancy May Humphry in Highgate, VT. They moved to Hartford, CT for 10 years where he worked for Pratt & Whitney. They returned to Brattleboro for a short time were he worked for the Army Corps of Engineers building the Townshend Dam, In the 1960's they moved to White River Junction where they lived for 30 or so years. During this time he was employed with Lane Construction where he was instrumental in the construction of the first interstate being constructed in Vermont; Charlie Kelton as a diesel mechanic; Alan Dunklee, Peter Robes and Twin State Sand and Gravel as a heavy equipment operator, before retiring to Vershire where they lived for 12 years. He has resided in Dales Trailer Park in White River Junction for the past 2 1/2 years.

Wendal was a proud 60 plus year member of the Blazing Star Masonic Lodge #23 Townshend, VT

He is predeceased by his wife Nancy Farrar, a son Loren Farrar as well as a brother Lynford "Bud" Farrar.

Wendal is survived by a son, Stephen Farrar and his wife Viola of West Fairlee, VT, two grandchildren Timothy Farrar of Vershire, VT and Stephanie Williams of Thetford, VT as well as several nieces and nephews.

A private committal service will be held at Christian Street Cemetery in Wilder at the convienice of the family. Knight Funeral Home in White River Junction has been entrusted with arrangements.
