Hartland, VT – Wayne D. Lamica, 76, died Thursday, August 20, 2026, at the Vermont Veterans’ Home in Bennington, VT.

He was born October 2, 1949, in Windsor, VT, a son of Earl and Norma Lamica. Wayne grew up in Hartland and attended Windsor High School before enlisting in the U.S. Army. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Hartland and began working at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in White River Junction as a custodian. In June of 1978, Wayne married his best friend and the love of his life, Vickie Russell. Together they built a home on Cobb Hill Road in Hartland, where they raised their family. Wayne continued his education by attending night school and furthered his career at the VA, eventually retiring as an accountant at the age of 50.

Wayne was a private and quiet man who treasured his time at home with his family and his beloved pets, Izzy and Cali. He was exceptionally intelligent and had a quick wit, always ready with a clever comeback that could catch you off guard and make you laugh. He was also a generous man, quietly giving his support to causes that were important to him and beliefs that he cared deeply about.

During his retirement, Wayne enjoyed working around his home and taking trips, both locally on the back roads of Windsor County and around the country. He loved spending time on his Harley and later behind the wheel of his Ford Mustang. He also enjoyed traveling with Vickie and her sisters on trips to Florida, Colorado, Las Vegas, as well as cruises and trips to local casinos. Wayne’s greatest joy was his grandson, Ryan, who cherished the many vacations and weekends spent with his “Mimi and Papa.”

He was predeceased by his wife of almost 48 years, Vickie, in April of this year. He leaves his daughters, Angela Palmer of Claremont, NH, and Tara Lamica of Brownsville, VT; two brothers, Arthur Lamica (Rhonda) and Harold Lamica; a sister, Carol Sprague; and his beloved grandson, Ryan Miller.
