HARTLAND, VT
Wauneta Iona Lowery, 78, a resident of Hartland, passed away on Thursday afternoon, March 15 at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH surrounded by loved ones.
She was born January 12, 1934 in East Calais, VT the daughter of Ralph and Gertrude (Batchelder) Persons. She received her schooling in East Calais, Woodbury and Montpelier, VT. She married Kenneth G. Lowery on December 19, 1953 in Cornish, NH. Mrs. Lowery was a loving wife and mother and enjoyed caring for her family. She was a member of the St. Francis of Assisi Church in Windsor where she belonged to the Catholic Daughters, Court of St. Francis. She was also a member of the Windsor American Legion Post #25 Auxiliary. Wauneta enjoyed painting, gardening, sewing and crafts.
Her loving husband, Kenneth passed away on March 8, 2012. She was also predeceased by one daughter, Caroline Hull and three grandchildren, Kenneth Hull, Jeremiah Hull and Theresa Hull, and by two sisters Mildred Willard and Lucille Baker and one brother, Maurice Persons.
Survivors include three daughters, Bonnie Holbrook and her husband Jim Holbrook of Thetford Center, VT, Yvonne Rice and her husband Ronnie Rice of Hartland and Donna Lowery and her friend Paul Trusty of Hartland, seven grandchildren, Dominique (Holbrook) Walton and her husband, Shane Walton; Jason and Justin Rice; Jonathan and Jessica Atwood; Jazmin and James Beam; two great grandsons, Zadian Walton and Izic Richardson; one sister, Pauline Fair of Wilder, VT, several nieces and nephews.
At Mrs. Lowery's request there will no visiting hours.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. and Mrs. Lowery will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the St. Francis of Assisi Church in Windsor. The Rev. Raphael Nyabenda, Pastor, will be the Celebrant. Committal services will be held in the spring in the Fairview Cemetery in East Calais.
