Warren J. Wurtz
East Thetford, VT- Warren J Wurtz, 67, of East Thetford died on Thursday, March 17 peacefully at his home after battling a long illness.
He was born March 23, 1943 in Milwaukee, WI, the son of John F and Alice (Birschbach) Wurtz. He attended Regis High School in Milwaukee where he played on the football team. As a young man he worked at his father's cheese company, and enjoyed living and working at his uncles farm as well as duck hunting on the Mississippi with his father and brothers. After graduating high school, Warren served in the Air Force and was stationed in Alaska, where he met his first wife Marie LaMountain. They were married on October 2, 1965 and lived in Wisconsin before eventually moving to Thetford, VT where Marie was originally from and lived there until her death in 1993. In 2000 Warren married Faye Pike. Warren worked as a delivery driver for JJ Nissen's for over 23 years until retiring in 2000. He then went on to work part time at the VA Medical Center in White River Jct., for 5 years until he became ill.
Warren was an avid football fan, and loved the Green Bay Packers and on Sunday you could always find him watching as many games as possible. His favorite player, and the inspiration for his Chocolate Lab's name, was Brett Favre, who he followed from the Packers to the Jets and then finally the Minnesota Vikings. Warren was also an avid outdoorsman, and loved duck hunting and spending his summers fishing on the Connecticut River. He always enjoyed the companionship of his dogs.
He is predeceased by his first wife Marie in 1993.
Warren is survived by his wife Faye of East Thetford, VT, two sons John Wurtz and his wife Sandy of Orford, NH and David Wurtz and his wife Amanda of Post Mills, VT, two Daughters, Sherry Rowell and her husband Derek of Canaan, NH and Jennifer Jones and her husband Arthur of Bradenton, FL, Four stepdaughters, Nicole Gray and her husband Mat of Orford, NH, Melissa Fields of East Thetford, VT, Sarah Goodrich and Keith Estes of Enfield, NH and Brandy Dunbar and Jeremiah Little of East Thetford, VT, thirteen grandchildren, 10 step grandchildren, two brothers, Jim Wurtz and his wife Karen of Caledonia, WI and Dan Wurtz and his wife Rita of Eleva, WI, two sisters, Cynthia McClintock of Anoka, MN and Alison Elligen and her husband Jon of New Berlin, WI, several nieces and nephews, and his beloved Chocolate Lab "Brett Favre".
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
