Walter "Chris" Orf
Quechee, VT, Walter "Chris" Orf, 73, died Thursday November 19, 2015 at Lebanon Center Genesis Eldercare in Lebanon, NH.
He was born March 19, 1942 in Hanover, NH a son of Walter and Anna (Blodgett) Orf. Walter lived in White River Jct. as a young boy, until his family moved to Thetford when he was 10 years old. While attending school in Thetford he met Emily Drew and they were married March 25 1961 in North Thetford. He worked as a baker at the Tip Top Bakery in White River Jct. for a time and then for the State of Vermont Highway Department. Later he worked as a carpenter for Law-Mac Builders before becoming a licensed electrician. Walter worked for several electrical contractors, including himself, but for many years he worked at Bates and Murray in Barre, VT. In 1985 he started driving truck, going on long hauls with his wife as a co-driver. They retired from trucking in 2002, and then delivered the Valley News together until 2009.
Walter enjoyed playing cards with his grandkids and also enjoyed watching westerns on TV.
He is survived by his wife, Emily, of Quechee; his children Lawrence Orf and wife Roxane of Allenstown, NH, Walter "Buster" Orf and wife Jane of Stonington, CT and Lynn Thorp and husband Eric of South Strafford, VT; grandchildren Breane, Erica, Lawrence and Alex Orf and Eric and Megan Thorp; great grandchildren Gwendolyn and Khristjan; a sister Georgia Brock of Kentucky and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at the family's home at a time to be announced.
