Obituary

WEST WINDSOR, VT

Walter E. Huebner, 93, a resident of West Windsor, passed away Tuesday evening, April 9 at the Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center in Windsor, surrounded by his family.
He was born December 16, 1925 in Potsdam, Germany the son of Walther E.P. and Dorothy (Hagemann) Hubner. He moved to the United States in 1929 and attended the New York City school system and graduated from Bay High School in Queens in 1943. Walter enlisted in the US Army at the age of seventeen and served in France and Germany as a combat infantryman bravely fighting during the Battle of the Bulge. He was honorably discharged in 1946. He then attended Queens College and later CCNY and Princeton University. He was employed at Republic Aviation designing fighter planes. He then moved to Connecticut and worked for Sikorsky Aircraft designing helicopters. He married June Corwin on November 20, 1976 in West Windsor and they moved to Vermont in 1985. Mr. Huebner taught Math and Physics at the Mid Vermont Christian School in Quechee for several years and became an ordained minister in 1995, proudly preaching the Gospel. Walter will be remembered for his joyful and generous nature.  He was a life member of the VFW.

Survivors include his wife, June Huebner of West Windsor, six sons, Walter Huebner of NC, William Huebner of NH, Thomas Huebner of CT, Christian Huebner of VT, Stephen Corwin of IA, and Michael Corwin of VA, six daughters, Susan Brown of NH, Lisa Macri of NH, Linda Woods of PA, Theresa Amtel of VT, Elizabeth Schick of CT and Christine Kilpatrick of VT, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Rolf and Norman Huebner and by one sister, Florence Modrak. His large and extended family will miss him deeply.

A Funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 8 at 4:00 PM at the Brownsville Community Church in West Windsor. Rev. Christian Huebner and Rev. Andrew Osmun will officiate. A reception for family and friends will follow in the church hall. Private committal services will be held at the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in East Randolph, VT.

The Knight Funeral Home in Windsor assisted with the arrangements.  In lieu of flowers, and reflecting Walter's love for children and animals, donations can be made in Walter Huebner's name to St.Jude's Children's Hospital or Lucy Mackenzie Humane Society in West Windsor, Vermont.
