IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Walter "Wally"
A. Radicioni
August 24, 1932 – August 6, 2020
Walter (Wally) A. Radicioni, Sr. , 87, died peacefully Thursday morning, August 6, 2020, at his home of five years, in Sharon, VT. He was born August 24, 1932 in Westerly, RI, the oldest child of Armando and Mary (LaPere) Radicioni. While still a very young man, Wally met the love of his life, Elizabeth( Betty)Burdick, with whom he spent 56 blessed years.
He began his military career with the US Navy and retired from the US Coast Guard. Upon that retirement, he and Betty began expanding their entrepreneurship in both real estate and restaurant ownership. Together, they owned and built several rental properties in the Westerly area and successfully owned and operated The Sea Mist Haven in Mystic, CT and Carpenters Grille in Matunuck, RI. In 1980, Wally moved his family to Quechee, VT, where they owned and manged Quechee Realty for a period of time before purchasing Brooksies Restaurant in Sharon, VT. They operated Brooksies for over 20 years. The last restaurant they owned was Grabbers Restaurant in Manchester, VT, which they operated until their official retirement. From that point on, they thoroughly enjoyed their home they built on Mascoma Lake in Enfield, NH. Throughout their lives, Wally and Betty enjoyed traveling and spending their winters in Florida, finding local fairs and beauty along the way.
He was a man who marched to the beat of his own drum and lived by his wrist watch (always on time or early), he liked routine, and loved his family by embracing his role as the provider. The family will remember him best for his unfiltered papa-isms, to include ("Oh Boy" and "Don't get old"!) His favorite term of endearment was "shit-head." If he referred to you as such, you knew you were loved and he wanted good things for you. He will be terribly missed by his family and all who loved him. However, knowing he is reunited with his bride, Betty, makes the loss bearable!
Mr. Radicioni was predeceased by his beautiful wife, Elizabeth(Betty), and his grandson, Charles (CJ) Radicioni. He is survived by his sister and brother, Roberta Terranova and Douglas Radicioni (both of Westerly, RI) as well as his eight children: Renee Pavlus (David) of Provo, UT; Toni Bacon (Brett) of Dover, NH; Nina Chu (Peter) of West Hartford, VT; Mark Radicioni (DeeDee) of Westerly, RI; Walter Radicioni, Jr. (Gina) of West Hartford, VT; Lee Ann Julich (Terry) of Manchester, WA; Susan LaPlaca (Joe) of Sharon, VT; and Laura Ramos of Concord, NH. In addition, Wally leaves twenty-five grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly.
