MEREDITH, NH
Virginia L. Taggart, 86, a former longtime resident of Windsor, passed away Saturday morning, October 1 at the Golden View Health Care Center in Meredith, NH where she has resided since April of 2013.
She was born in Newport, VT the daughter of Sherman and Celia (Osgood) Cammett. She received her schooling in Newport and graduated from Newport Center High School in 1948. She married Howard M. Taggart in 1949 and moved to Windsor in 1950. Virginia was employed at the former Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Windsor for several years. She and her husband later ran the Ascutney Shell Station. She most recently was employed as a security guard at the former Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital in Hanover, NH until her retirement. In her later years, Virginia enjoyed traveling, camping, woodworking and spending time with her family.
She was a former member of the Windsor American Post #25 Auxiliary. She had resided at the Mt. Ascutney Hospital Nursing Home since June 2000, until moving to Meredith in 2013.
Mr. Taggart passed away in 1961. She was also predeceased by her parents and four sisters, Vivian Hockstin, Arletta Bickford, Betty Rhodes and Laura Turgeon.
Survivors include, one son, Howard D. Taggart and his wife, Judith of Gilford, NH, two grandsons, Dana L. Taggart of Franklin, NH and Colin R. Taggart and his wife, Lori of Bedford, NH, three great grandchildren, Maggie, Rylan and Zyler, one sister in law, Agnes Dow, and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, October 6 at 11:00 AM in the Ascutneyville Cemetery in Ascutney, VT. The Rev. William Sheldon, will officiate.
