IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Virginia "Ginger"
L. Hugg
December 16, 1944 – January 27, 2024
Windsor, VT - Virginia "Ginger" L. (Odell) Hugg 79, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday January 27, 2024. She was born in Passaic, NJ on December 16th, 1944, the daughter of Rodney L. Odell and Anne M. (Cole) Odell. Ginger grew up in Montclair, NJ and graduated from Montclair High School in 1964 and attended Windham College in Putney, VT where she studied Art. She then married her husband William (Bill) R. Hugg on August 26, 1967. After they were married, they lived in New Jersey, then moved to Wyoming, and then settled in Windsor, VT where they raised four children. Ginger was a devoted wife and mother who chose to be a stay-at-home mom when her children were young, during this time she was a Girl Scout Leader, Den Mother, and an active member of Old South Church where she was involved in many community programs to help others. When her children were older, she worked in the Kitchen at Windsor High School and then later drove the school bus for the Town of Windsor for many years until retirement. After retirement, she bought a camp in Chelsea, VT which she loved to spend time with her kids and grandchildren.
She absolutely loved being a grandmother. Her grandchildren were her "pride and joy" as she would often say. She would take her grandchildren fishing, camping, hiking, on car rides, picnics, the ocean, museums, and amusement parks; anything to spend time with them. She taught some of her grandchildren how to play baseball and in return they taught her how to play video games. She loved to play board games, cards, and do puzzles. She also loved to meet new people and was always up for an adventure. She was a very loving, caring and generous person, but most of all she was a great storyteller. All her wonderful stories will remain in the hearts of all of us forever.
She was predeceased by her parents Rodney Odell, and Anne (Cole) Odell, her brother Rodney Odell and her sister-in-law Jean (Tighe) Odell. She was survived by her husband of 56 years, William R. Hugg of Chelesea VT; her children Jennifer (Hugg) Marden and her husband Shannon Marden, Jessica (Hugg) Gould, Andrew Hugg and his former wife Margret (Hugg) Worth, and Valerie Hugg.; her eight grandchildren; Alisha Marden, Nathan Marden, William Hugg, Wyatt Hugg, Lydia Hugg, Zachary Gould, Joshua Gould, and Alice Gould; and her three great-grandchildren; Keegan Marden, Alexander Ladeau, and Elliott Ladeau. Her siblings Jeffery Odell, Cole Odell, Jean Bell, Bob Bell, and Linda Odell. And many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
The family would like to recognize Cheshire Medical Center for the excellent care and compassion they gave Ginger and her family during her final moments. We would also like to recognize all her friends that helped care for Ginger, especially in the last three years of her life; Linda and Walter Farnsworth, Maggie Giffin, Stephanie Kalina, and Natalie Frost just to name a few. Your support and love meant everything to Ginger.
Memorial Services or Celebration of life will be held at a later date.
