White River Jct., VT - Virginia M. "Gina" Cook, 82, died Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at Hanover Terrace in Hanover, NH surrounded by her loving family.  She was born Sept. 21, 1936 in Union Village in the town of Norwich, VT the daughter of Wilbur O. and Irene (Smith) Stanley.

Virginia attended schools in Union Village and was married to Duane "Joe" Cook December 13, 1952 in Union Village.   She lived most of her married life in Thetford, VT until moving to Graystone Village in White River Jct., VT in August of 2001.  In May of 2017 she moved to Hanover Terrace.  Virginia worked as a waitress for thirty-three years at the Log Cabin Restaurant in Norwich, VT and then later in the bookkeeping department at Smith, Bacheldor & Rugg  in Hanover, NH.  Later she worked as a bookkeeping assistant for Ben Ptashnick at ViaVermont retiring in 1992 after suffering a stroke.

Gina loved her kids, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  When she lived at Greystone Village, she enjoyed sitting on her patio in the nice weather with her friends or just reading and feeding the squirrels.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Jesse Stanley of Norwich, VT and Thomas Stanley of Bradford, VT.

Gina is survived by four sons, Duane S. Cook and his wife Kathy of Fairlee, VT, Guy M. Cook and his wife Martha of Corinth, VT, Gary L. Cook and his wife, Darlene of West Fairlee, VT, Douglas P. Cook and his wife, Kim of South Strafford, VT,  a daughter,  Barbara Broderick and her husband Chris of Lebanon, NH, eleven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, a brother, Jerry Stanley of Norwich, VT as well as several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held Sunday, August 11, from 4-6PM at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct., VT.  A private family graveside service will be held at a later date in the Union Village Cemetery in Norwich, VT.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions maybe made to the American Cancer Society or the American heart Association
