Obituary

Enfield, New Hampshire – Viola "Vi" Mae Hooker, 87, died early Thursday morning, February 16, 2012 at her son's home where she has lived for the past five years. Vi was born January 18, 1925 in Bristol, NH the daughter of Leroy J. and Myrtle (Moulton) Bragg. She attended schools in Bristol and married Waldo Lawson at an early age. They lived in Bristol and Franklin, NH. Later she married Kenneth Hooker September 24, 1955. They were married for nearly fifty years. Mr. Hooker died May 16, 1991.
Vi was well known in the upper valley area. She worked as a cashier and hostess most of her working career, first, Village Hearth Restaurant and then later at Lander's Restaurant where she worked for over fifteen years. Following her husband's death she went to work at the Riverside Grill in Enfield and then finally for Kmart in West Lebanon, NH she retired after seventeen years of service.

Vi enjoyed bingo, dancing with her husband at the Elks Lodge and the V.F.W., she also liked knitting but most of all she enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. For the past five years she has made her home with her son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Debbie.

She was predeceased by two sons, Robert E. Lawson and Richard A. Hooker. She is survived by four sons, Thomas Hooker of Enfield, NH, Kenneth Hooker Jr. of Canaan, NH, Kevin L. Hooker of Ascutney, VT, Timothy Hooker of Windsor, VT, four daughters, Cindy L. Passner of Exton, PA, Carol Lynn Kennedy of Philadelphia, PA, Linda Mae Bean of Virginia, Deloris Lawson of Concord, NH, twenty grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside committal service will be held in the springtime in the Gleason Cemetery in Meriden, NH. Memorial contributions may be made the American Cancer Society, New Hampshire Division, 360 Route 101, Unit 501, Bedford, NH 03102.
