WEST WINDSOR, VT
Vesta Anne Despart, 81, a longtime resident of West Windsor, died early Thursday morning, April 16, at Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center in Windsor, VT. She was born November 25, 1933 in Windsor, VT the daughter of Shirley and Ila (Dimick) Hammond. She attended school in West Windsor and graduated from Windsor High School. Vesta attended college in Burlington, VT for a couple of years before returning to West Windsor when she started her long career at the former Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Windsor. She retired after thirty-five years as an office administrator. Following her retirement Vesta worked behind the counter for several years at the Ascutney Butcher Shop.
Her entire life she was an incredible worker. As a single mom, she held down a steady job and raising her only son along with helping on the family farm. Vesta loved horses and was an accomplished rider. She was a strong supporter of the Green Mountain Horse Association. She sponsored one of the trails at GMHA in Woodstock, VT.
She is survived by her son, Gregg A. Despart of Brookfield, VT, a brother, Ronald Hammond of West Windsor, VT, a sister, Jean Hunt of Grand Isle, VT as well as several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, April 28 at 7:00 PM at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor, VT. The Rev. William Sheldon, will officiate. Burial will take place at a later date in the Sheddsville Cemetery in West Windsor, VT.
