Vernon A. Pierce, Jr., 57, passed away unexpectedly, Friday evening, December 28 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical center in Lebanon.
He was born March 14, 1961 in Brattleboro, VT the son of Vernon A. and Judith (Hallock) Pierce. He received his schooling in Brattleboro and graduated from Brattleboro High School in 1980. He was employed as a dishwasher at the Putney Inn and area restaurants. Vernon enjoyed attending concerts where he me the mother of his first two children, David and Melissa Schmitt. In 1986, he met the love of his life, Donna Derby and they were married in 1987. They had two sons, Reece and Corey Pierce. He was sadly widowed in 2001 when his wife passed away as the result of an automobile accident.
Vernon was fond of cruising in Chevelles, watching movies and concerts. He enjoyed Chinese food, and loved music and cats. He also enjoyed listening to Kiss, Van Halen and The Rolling Stones as well as 1970's music. He was an avid New England Patriots fan and especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
Survivors include his four children, Reece Pierce and Cory Pierce, both of Perkinsville, VT and David Schmitt and Melissa Schmitt, both of Northford, CT, one grandson, Kalex Pierce, two brothers, Kyle Pierce of Westminster, VT and Shannon Pierce of Kalamazoo, MI, one sister, Regina Brownell, also of Kalamazoo.
A celebration of Vernon's life will be held, Wednesday, January 9 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the Windsor Welcome Center at 3 Railroad Street in Windsor, VT.
The Knight Funeral Home in Windsor assisted with the arrangements.
