Obituary

White River Jct., VT – Vera D. Gunn, 93, died Thursday June 30, 2011 at Brookside Nursing Home in White River Jct.

She was born November 7, 1917 in North Pomfret, VT a daughter of Donald and Grace (Colby) Davis. Vera graduated from Woodstock High School in 1936 and was married to Bailey Frank in 1938. She worked for many years as a cook at one of the Farm and Wilderness camps in Plymouth, VT in the summer and in the winter at the Veterans Administration Canteen in White River Jct. Vera was a hard worker who could adapt her skills however needed to get a job including at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in Windsor, Dicks Diner in White River Jct. and traveling the circuits with the fairs to work in the photo booth. She was married to George Gunn in 1958, he died in 1986. Due to poor health Mrs. Gunn has resided with her daughter Penny and family for the past seven years.

Mrs. Gunn was very active in local Granges for over seventy years as a member in different chapters including Taftsville, Sherburne and Hartford. She enjoyed reading, puzzles, crosswords, crafts and had a special love for horses.

She is predeceased by her husband George and a sister Hazel Gray.

She is survived by three sons Samuel Frank of Orange, VT, Michael Frank of Fairbanks, Alaska and George Gunn Jr. of Anchorage, Alaska; a step son Mike Gunn of North Springfield, VT; five daughters Penny Yanick of White River Jct., Dorothy Perkins of St. Albans, VT, Carol Jones of Port St. Lucie, FL, Phyllis Parent of Essex Jct., VT and Sandra Sykes of Hartland, VT; a step daughter Barbara Burnham of White River Jct.; a sister Ardis Ward of Winooski, VT; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery on Spring Street in Lebanon Wednesday July 6th at 11AM.
