Obituary

Nottingham, NH - Thor Cook, 51, passed away Saturday, February 8, 2014 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH, surround by his family, after a courageous battle with lymphoma.

He was born September 12, 1962 in York, Maine, the son of Daniel A. and Pearl (Murray) Cook. He grew up in Greenland, NH and graduated from Dover High School in 1981. After graduation he went to work as a welder, operated his own welding and fabrication company, and also helped out in his father's machine shop. Thor married Marilyn Doyle in May 1991 in Exeter, NH. They lived for a time in Newmarket and Lee and settled in Nottingham, NH. He was employed with DMS Machining and Fabrication in Barre, VT until he was unable to work due to his illness.

Thor loved racing and would attend races at Louden Speedway. He was passionate about NASCAR and would rarely miss a race. He enjoyed drafting and drawing his ideas. Thor was a certified Scuba diver and was planning to get his underwater welding credentials. What he loved most was spending time with his family and friends and will be remembered fondly for his great sense of humor.

He is survived by his wife Marilyn Cook; a son Garrett Cook; a daughter Chloe Cook all of Barrington, NH; his sister, Candace Potter, and her husband Clint, of Hartford, VT; his sister Tracy King, and her husband Walter, of Ellenburg Depot, NY and many nieces and nephews.

Thor's family would like to thank the kind and thoughtful staff of doctors and nurses at DHMC for the great care they provided for Thor during his brave fight.

Knight Funeral Home in White River Junction assisted with arrangements.

A celebration of Thor's life will be held on Sunday, February 16, 2014 from 1:00 – 4:00 pm at the Rochester Country Club at 94 Church Street, Rochester, NH.
