Bennington, VT – Thomas Hage Parr, 76, died Saturday June 7, 2014 at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, VT.
He was born February 4, 1938 in New Haven, CT a son of Norwegian immigrants, Albert Eide Parr and Ella (Hage) Parr. Tom grew up in Bronxville, NY and Manhattan. He graduated from the Bronx High School of Science before attending Yale where he received his Bachelors in Art History. He then served in Army Intelligence and received an Army Commendation Medal for exemplary leadership and dedication during the Vietnam War. After returning from his military service he earned his Master's Degree from Columbia where he later taught for a time. Tom didn't stay put for long, living in Stanford, CA, Connecticut, Boston and Wilder Vermont before becoming a resident at the Vermont Veteran's Home where he has lived for the past eight and a half years.
Tom is survived by his sister Victoria Parr Neumann of Benson, VT (formerly of South Strafford, VT); a brother Nils Albert Parr of Hanover, PA and several nieces and nephews, including Christina Victoria Bolan of Essex Jct, VT and Thomas D Neumann of Benson, VT
Burial will be held at a later time in the Evergreen Cemetery in South Strafford, VT.
