Thomas Martin, 84, passed away on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at his home in Ascutney. He was born February 5, 1935 in Hartford, VT, the son of George and Marion (Sargent) Martin and raised on a farm in the White River area. Tom served in the U.S. Army from 1953-1956 as a vehicle mechanic, where he received the National Defense Service Medal.  Following his honorable discharge from the Army, he worked on farms including Everett Steven's farm in Weathersfield Bow, was a highway manager for the Town of Windsor, and delivered milk for both Idlenot and Billings Dairies.  He started his own tractor and backhoe construction business in 1967. He retired in 1997.

Tom was always working and had a love of the outdoors. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Norma (Stocker) Martin, his children and their families: son, Clinton Thomas Martin and his wife; daughters, Marjorie LaFlam and her husband, Darryl, Cathy Kowalczyk, Cindy Patch and her husband, Keith, Janet Paden and her husband, Ron, and Gloria Martin and John Hill; two sisters, Nancy Stone and Mary Alice O'Donnell; 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

At Mr. Martin's request, a private graveside service will be held in the spring. The Knight Funeral Home in Windsor is entrusted with the arrangements.
