MERIDEN, NH

Susan J. Timmons, 88, a resident of Meriden, passed away Saturday evening, September 15 at the Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center in Windsor.

She was born March 30, 1930 in Hancock, NH the daughter of William and Maude (Slavenwhite) Johnson. She graduated from Peterborough High School in Peterborough, NH. She married Leonard L. Timmons in 1949 in Hanover, NH.

They made their home on Maple Street in White River Jct., VT and in the early 1960's, she got the "Antique Bug" and under the friendship of an elderly neighbor, who ran an antique shop, she opened her own shop and it grew into a successful fifteen year operation. Susan made many close friends through the business and auction world. She especially loved postcards and old books. She even converted her husband, who was a skeptic, until he became a full time antiques guy and restored and refinished hundreds of pieces of old furniture.

In 1975, they moved to Meriden, NH where she was active in two local churches and worked at the Meriden Village Store, making many more new friends. In the last few years, failing health kept her close to home and to her family. Susan will be greatly missed.

She was predeceased by her parents and one brother, James Thompson.

Survivors include her husband, Leonard Timmons of Meriden, two sons, Keith Timmons and his wife, Jan of Cornish, NH and David Timmons of Thetford, VT, one grandson, Brendan Timmons of Burlington, VT and several nieces and nephews.

At her requested there will be no public formal services.

Her family wishes to acknowledge and thank all the staff at Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Hospice for their professional and caring help in her last days, and all of her friends and neighbors who helped brighten her final days.
