IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Susan Gauthier
Leckart
June 13, 1951 – January 21, 2021
WILDER, VT-Susan R. (Gauthier) Leckart passed away on January 21, 2021, at Granville Center in Granville, NY due to complications from Alzheimer's disease. She was 69.
Sue was born in Hanover, NH on June 13, 1951, to Raymond P. and Madelyn (Dumas) Gauthier of Lebanon. She grew up in the Riverdale section, attended Lebanon schools, and graduated from Lebanon High School in 1969. Fond childhood memories of her family's tradition of vacationing on Mascoma Lake instilled a love of the water, camping, and the outdoors. As an adult, she began her own tradition of enjoying the Maine coast every fall for 40 years. At home, Sue was accomplished in the kitchen and drew inspiration from her large collection of cookbooks to bake and cook for her family and friends. She was a lover of music, Christmas Revels, and Eric Clapton.
Sue worked for several area businesses including the Hanover AM radio station WTSL and Dartmouth National Bank. Although Sue's multiple health issues caused her to retire early, she worked to stay optimistic and was extremely proud of being a breast cancer survivor. Her family wishes to acknowledge their appreciation of the staff of Granville Center, and the compassion and care of Dr. Julie Davis of White River Family Practice. They are also grateful for the generosity and devotion of the LHS Class of 1969.
Susan is survived by her husband of 38 years, Andy of Wilder; a son, Jonathan (Dave) of Wilder; a brother, John F. Gauthier of Bourne, MA; several cousins; other relatives and friends.
No services are planned due to COVID. Contributions in Sue's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association (alz.org) or the Upper Valley Humane Society (uvhs.org).
