West Hartford, VT- Stephen Paul Gilbert, 62, died Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family.

Stephen was born July 3, 1958 in Windsor, VT a son of Campbell L. and Katherine A. (Blake) Gilbert. He graduated from Windsor High School class of 1976. Stephen attended Arizona State University and started working at the US Postal Service in 1981. Stephen married Cheryl Wells on April 30, 1983; they made their home in West Hartford. Stephen retired from the Postal Service in 2019.

Stephen was an avid Patriots and Red Sox fan.  He enjoyed reading, gardening, and going for walks, but his greatest love was to spend time with his children and play with his grandchildren.

Stephen is survived by his beloved wife, Cheryl Gilbert of West Hartford; a son Corey Gilbert and his wife Allyssa of Manchester, NH; two daughters, Angela Taylor of Heath, MA and Katie Nordman and her husband Joshua of Hartland, VT; five grandchildren, Lindsey and Jacob Taylor, Kasey Gilbert, and Elia and Althea Nordman; and two brothers Frederick Gilbert of Windsor, VT and James Gilbert and his wife Christine of Brookfield, VT.

A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. A public celebration of his life will be held in the summer months when people can gather in the outdoors.
