WILDER, VT. — Stephanie W. Hart, 76, died peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends on Friday, May 27, 2011, after a long struggle with cancer. She was originally from New York the daughter of Isabel and George Woods. She lived in Norwich from 1963 and moved to Wilder with her long-term partner Fredrick H. Ladd in 2003. Fred predeceased Stephanie in Nov. 2010.
Stephanie was an accomplished artist and her paintings have been exhibited throughout the Upper Valley. Stephanie was involved in a variety of community organizations, including: Arthritis support groups, Root District Riding Club, numerous book groups, garden club, Meals on Wheels volunteer, and Ford Sawyer. She loved adventure and travel. She travelled in Europe, Turkey, throughout the United States, which included: rafting on the Grand Canyon and Salmon rivers; horseback camping in the Tetons, New Mexico, and North Carolina; and a road trip with Fred to Alaska.
She is survived by, her children, Benjamin, Matthew, and Emily Hart, and Rosemary Carroll; her sister, Octavia Woods, six grandchildren, two nephews, and a niece. A joint memorial service celebrating both Stephanie and Fred's lives, love for each other, and commitment to their community will be on Saturday, June 25, 2011, at 2 p.m. at the Norwich Congregational Church.
