IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Stanley L.
Teeter, Jr.
June 25, 1939 – July 20, 2021
After a courageous battle, Stanley L. Teeter, Jr., passed away peacefully at the Jack Byrne Center on July 20, 2021. Stan was born on June 25, 1939, the only child of Stanley L. Teeter, Sr. and Mae (Slack) Teeter, in New York City. Upon graduation from high school, Stan attended the University of Vermont, where he received a BS in Engineering. Stan lived in Westwood and Waltham, Massachusetts, while working at various firms in the Boston area, to include Sylvania, Sperry, GE and The Mitre Corp., all associated with the Department of Defense work.
Upon his retirement to "the Farm" on Turnpike Road in Norwich, Stan spent a lot of time working in the woods and building roads. He was a gracious host of the family 4th of July gathering for many years, a tradition that meant a lot to him.
Stan attended 1st grade in the one room school house that was across the road from the Sprague Slack Homestead in Norwich. Stan was active in the Norwich community and was on the Development Review Board, a position he was involved in until his illness didn't allow him to actively participate any longer. For years, annually Stan took the 2nd grade class from the local elementary school for tours around the farm, along the brook. He would accumulate acorns and distribute them to the class, naturally, explaining what they were.
Stan enjoyed most genres of music, especially smooth jazz. He often attended concerts in the Upper Valley to include performances at the Hopkins Center in Hanover.
He was all about helping others; always there for anyone in need, no matter the task or the time of day, he would be there. Stan was a thrifty guy, he believed that everything had a use and most things more than one purpose… Stan believed that you should "use it up", "wear it out', "make it do" or 'go without."
He was predeceased by his parents, aunts, Gladys Mullins and Florence Jones and uncle, Walter Teeter as well as cousins, Alvin Teeter, Janet Brown, Robert Teeter, Sr., and Theodore Teeter.
Stan is survived by his cousins, Jacqueline Durkee of Bridgewater, VT, Richard Teeter Sr. (Cheryl) of Bradford, VT, Nancy Harrington of Roxbury, VT, Elizabeth Leonard (Deems) of Royalston, MA, Catherine McKinney of Vershire, VT and Patricia (Wesley) Parker of Vershire, VT and their extended families.
The family would like to thank Bayada Hospice for the wonderful care they gave Stan during his illness... it made his journey bearable and pleasurable to the end. There will be a graveside service on August 14, 2021 at 2PM, in the Hillside Cemetery in Norwich. Knight Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. Condolences may be expressed in an online guestbook found at www.knightfuneralhomes.com .
