Stanley "Stan" Russell

CONCORD, NEW HAMPSHIRE

Stanley "Stan" Russell, 78, a former resident of Lebanon, New Hampshire, died Sunday July 4, 2010 at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Manchester, New Hampshire.

Stan was born June 5, 1932 in Hartland Vermont, a son of Ronald and Marion (Emery) Russell. Stan grew up and attended school in Harland, VT. He was a graduate of Windsor High School in Windsor, VT class of 1950. In 1951 he enlisted in the Air Force and served his country during the Korean Conflict as an aircraft mechanic. After his honorable discharge he furthered his career by attending the East Coast Aero Tech School in Boston Massachusetts. Upon his completion he went on to work for American Airlines in Boston and New York. He spent a time at Raytheon Manufacturing in Boston until his move to Rutland, Vermont in 1961 to work at the Rutland regional Airport. During his time in Rutland he met the love of his life Barbara Elsesser, they were married July 27, 1963 in the Rutland Congregational Church. In 1977 they moved to Lebanon, New Hampshire where he worked at Ladco in Lebanon. In 1994 he left and went to work at the Lebanon Jet Center in Lebanon. In 1999 he went to work at Sharky's Helicopters as an inspector until his retirement in 2004. In 2008 they moved to Concord, New Hampshire to be closer to their children.

Stan enjoyed working with his hands restoring old cars and being outdoors while hunting and fishing.

Stan is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara Russell of Concord; a son Douglas Russell; a daughter, Karen Hopkins both of Pembroke, New Hampshire two granddaughters; two brothers Kenneth E. Russell of Plymouth, NH and John E. Russell of Canaan, NH; two sisters C. Louise Bradley, Barbara Rockwood both of Phoenix, Arizona; and several nieces and nephews.

Interment will be in the New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, New Hampshire at the convenience of the family. Knight Funeral Home in White River Junction, Vermont assisted with arrangements.
