Stanley M. Mayo, 64, a longtime resident of Windsor, passed away unexpectedly Thursday morning, January 31 at his home in Windsor.
He was born July 28, 1954 in Windsor the son of George and Violet (Root) Mayo. He received his schooling in Windsor and graduated from Windsor High School in 1972. He was employed at Green Mountain Metal in Windsor and currently was employed as a machinist at Timken Aerospace in West Lebanon for over thirty years. Stan was known by his family and friends as a true gentleman. He played on the Windsor Men's Softball League where he was known as "Gator Creek". He was an accomplished bowler and a member of the Windsor Men's Bowling League and had bowled throughout New England. He was an avid sports fan, especially of the Atlanta Braves and the Dallas Cowboys. He enjoyed country music and traveling throughout the United States visiting all the Major League Baseball Stadiums.
He was predeceased by his parents. Survivors include four brothers, John Mayo and his wife, Donna of Brownsville VT, Bruce Mayo and his wife, Cathy of Hardwick, VT, David Mayo and his wife, Brenda of Cornish, NH and Stephen Mayo and his wife, Michele of Derry, NH, one sister, Mary Mayo of Biddeford, ME, several nieces and nephews and one great niece.
Visitation will be held Tuesday evening, February 5, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor. A graveside service will be held in the spring in the Ascutney Cemetery in Windsor.
