Stanley Allen Burnham

White River Jct., VT – Stanley Allen Burnham, 70, died Thursday May 19th at home in White River Jct., VT.

He was born September 15, 1945 in Lebanon, NH one of nine children to Roger and Clara (Campbell) Burnham. Stanley graduated from Woodstock High School in 1964 before serving in the US Army during the Vietnam War. While in Vietnam he earned the Purple Heart when he was wounded and lost his leg. He returned home as a disabled Vet and purchased the family farm on the Center of Town Road in White River Jct. where he has lived since. He was married at the farm to Donna Perkins May 28, 2015.

Stanley was very active in the Boy Scouts of America, serving the scouts of Vermont for the past 44 years. He held several positions and received many awards including: Scoutmaster from 1969-2010 and Assistant Scoutmaster from 2010-2016, was inducted into the Order of the Arrow in 1980, Brotherhood in 1981 and Vigil in 1986 (his Vigil name stood for friend of mankind), Order of the Arrow Lodge Advisor from 1991-2008 and Lodge Advisor Emeritus from 2008-2016, received the Founders Award in 1992, the Silver Beaver Award in 1995, the James E. West Award in 2004, and had the Camp Fire Ring at Camp Sunrise dedicated to him in 2007.

Mr. Burnham was predeceased by his father, Roger and a brother Robert Burnham.

He is survived by his wife, Donna, of White River Jct.; mother, Clara Burnham of North Springfield, VT; step daughters Sheila Kennedy of Canaan, NH and Eva Sawyer of Tucumcari, NM; brothers Stephen Burnham of White River Jct., Ronald Burnham of Plainfield, NH, Jim Burnham of West Lebanon, NH, Thom Burnham of Bradford, VT and Rodney Burnham of Delaware; sisters, Patty Grady and Linda Mallet of Killeen TX as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct. on Thursday May 26th from 6-8PM with a graveside memorial service in the Hartford Cemetery on Friday May 27th at 11AM.
