Sophia C. Trepanier, 95, a longtime resident of Windsor passed away Tuesday morning, April 13 at the Mt. Ascutney Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility in Windsor.
She was born April 12, 1915 on the Shedd Hill Farm in the Dutton District of Springfield, Vermont.
Upon graduation from Springfield High School in 1933, she moved to Windsor where she met and married Romain "Trip" Trepanier on October 15, 1938. He passed away on February 9, 2000. Sophia moved in the Historic Homes of Runnemede in Windsor.
She was a familiar downtown businesswoman for over twenty five years, managing the Windsor News Company on Main Street.
Oil painting was always an important part of her life, especially after studying under Windsor artist Will Hollingsworth. She was also involved with many different kinds of crafts. Gardening and golf were also important to her.
She was a longtime member of St. Francis of Assisi Church, the Windsor Country Club, the Windsor Chamber of Commerce and the Windsor Business Women's Association.
She was predeceased by two sister, Marcy Young and Olga Worden, and two brothers, Peter Laskevich and Russell Laskevich.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Bradley and her husband Al of Derry, NH and Mary Lee Buff and her husband Paul of Quechee, VT, three grandsons Keith Bradley of Derry, NH, Kurt Bradley of San Francisco, CA and Craig Westney of Danbury, CT, two great grandsons, Jacob and Benjamin Westney, several nieces and nephews.
There will be no visiting hours.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday afternoon, April 19 at 2:00 PM at the St. Francis of Assisi Church in Windsor. The Rev. Paul Belhumeur, M.S. will be the Celebrant. Committal services will follow in the St. Francis Cemetery in Windsor.
