Shirley Gladys Lane

Windsor, VT- Shirley Gladys Lane, 85, of Windsor died Sunday March 27 at the Mount Ascutney Hospital and Health Center in Windsor, VT.

She was born March 5, 1926 in Springfield, Vermont the daughter of Verne H and Hazel (LaPerle) Sparks. Shirley was raised in Weston, VT and graduated from Chester High School in Chester, VT. In 1949, she married Sidney Austin Lane at the Church on the Hill in Weston, Vermont. They moved to Windsor, where they built a home on the County Road, began their family and spent their entire married life. In 2008 she moved to Stoughton House in Windsor.

Shirley enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was fond of baking for family and friends and was particularly skilled at decorating cakes for her children's birthday celebrations.

She is predeceased by her husband Sidney in 1999.

She is survived by her children, Dr. Steven E Lane and his wife Susan of Avon, CT, Marie Lane Berry and her husband Paul of New Hampshire, Sylvia L Lane of Burlington, VT, Vicki A Lane of Montpelier, VT, her eight grandchildren, Tyler, Nathaniel, Ethan, William, Dawna, Jody, Naomi, and James, her dear sister-in-law Edris Lane, and her nephew Barry S Lane.

A funeral service will be held at the Rachel S Harlow United Methodist Church in Windsor, VT on Saturday April, 2 at 2PM. Burial will be at a later date in the Cavendish Village Cemetery, Cavendish, VT. Condolences can be expressed to the family at www.knightfuneralhomes.com.
