West Windsor, VT- Shirley R. Hammond, 90, died Monday, February 14, 2022, at her home surrounded by her family.

Shirley was born January 24, 1932, in Bridgewater, VT, a daughter of Harry and Zola (Harris) Sanderson. She attended Windsor High School and worked for a time at Good Year Tire and Rubber in Windsor. Shirley was married to Ronald Hammond March 11, 1950, at the Brownsville Church in West Windsor. They made their home on the family farm in West Windsor where they raised their children. Shirley worked for a time at the Stoughton House for the Windsor Homemakers.

Shirley enjoyed reading, puzzles, and spending time with her family. Most importantly she was a loving mother who care for her family and her husband. She always had a warm welcome for friends and family and accepted them unconditionally. Shirley made you feel like family. She loved the Lord and was filed with the Holy Spirit; she had the pleasure and joy of abiding in Christ. We feel assured that she is with her Lord now.

Shirley is survived by two sons, Leslie Hammond and wife Cindy and Scott Hammond, all of West Windsor; four daughters, Charlene Steffen and husband Chet of Branson, MO, Krista Johnson of West Windsor, Vicky Maheu of White River Junction, VT and Deena West and husband Edward of Brownsville, VT; one brother, Pete Sanderson of Reading, VT; one sister, Marjorie Hayes of Springfield, VT; thirteen grandchildren, Mark, Jeffrey, Christopher, Jonathan, Lisa, Shirley, Jackie, Philip, Marrisa, Ryan, Molly, Cortland, and Brandon; fifteen great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

Shirley is predeceased by her husband, Ronald Hammond; a grandson, Jacob Hammond; two brothers, Howard and Harry Sanderson; a sister, Vivian Waitsfield; and a son-in-law, Gordon Johnson.

A funeral service will be held at 11am on Thursday, May 12, 2022, at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor, VT. Interment will follow immediately at the Sheddsville Cemetery in West Windsor. Memorial donations are appreciated to VNA Hospice.
