Hartland, Vermont - Sheila Ann Barbour, 68, of Hartland, VT died peacefully in her home on Saturday, July 2, 2022.

Sheila was born in the seconds between March 30th and March 31st, 1954 to Helen "Joyce" and Thomas "Junior" Jiles in Carrollton, GA. She was raised with her nine siblings in Georgia. Upon marrying Paul Barbour, she moved to Hartland, Vermont where she made her home for the last 40 years. Sheila believed strongly in the power of education to better one's life; she proudly became a college graduate while raising her two daughters. Throughout her life, Sheila would always lend a helping hand to friends, neighbors, and strangers alike. In her later years, she became trained to be a nurse's assistant and provide in-home care and company to the elderly and infirm. Sheila found great joy and beauty in the world around her and had a passion for photography to capture those moments. Through all of these activities and achievements, Sheila battled the negative effects of her bipolar diagnosis. In watching her do so, Sheila taught her daughters about determination, perseverance, and grit as well as kindness and empathy. We are glad she can rest and be at peace now.

She is survived by her husband and love of her life Paul Barbour; their two daughters, Joy-El Talbot and Sarah Barbour; three grandchildren, Kathryn, Aurora, and Samuel; eight siblings, Ronnie, Enoch, Sammy, Anthony, Timothy, Mark, Robin, and Patsy; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and many wonderful friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Sue Phillips, and nephew Chris Jiles.

A service will be held at her graveside at 2pm on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at the Hartland Cemetery, Station Road, Hartland, VT.

Sheila lived her life always open to helping others. In lieu of flowers, remember her and continue her work by doing random acts of kindness, volunteering, and donating as you are able. Her particular favorites where she actively volunteered were Cover Home Repair and Volunteers in Action .
