Obituary

It is with heavy hearts the family of Sandy Norton announce her passing at home, on Sunday October 20, 2019, after a long battle with Leiomyosarcoma, a rare form of cancer. She fought very hard to get the very best care as possible. She was a participant in two clinical trials at Dana Farber in Boston and a patient a Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH.

Sandy was born August 15, 1950 the second of six girls born to Gordon and Marion (Day) Ducharme who passed at the young age of 66.  After graduating from Hartford High School Sandy began her career at the phone company, starting as an operator for New England Tel and finished with AT&T as a manager when they closed the White River Jct. office.  While working at the phone company Sandy met Gary Norton, they were married July 20, 1990 in White River Jct., VT.  After finishing at the phone company, Sandy then took classes in accounting and went work at Mascoma Savings Bank in the accounts payable department where she worked for 22 years.

Sandy was happiest when she was spending time with Gary, rather it be traveling as they did often as they could or staying home enjoying each others company. Sandy also enjoyed gardening both flowers and veggies.  Sandy treasured the time she spent with her grandkids Sadie, Henry and Grace as well as her niece Maegan, who has been like a daughter to her always, and Maegan's son Lucas. Sandy's friends were very special to her.  Her best friend Jean would always say that Sandy always wanted to know how she could help you.

She is survived by her beloved husband Gary; step son Matt and wife Katie and their three children; Sadie, Henry, and Grace of Sudbury MA; five sisters, Peg Broughton of Concord, NH, Deb and her husband Ed Doubleday of New Fairfield, CT, Rennie and her husband Kevin of Claremont, NH, Linda Ducharme of White River Jct., VT and Mel and her husband Dave Oronte of Wilder, VT.
