Windsor, VT – Sandra L. Place, 48, died Friday September 17th at Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center surrounded by her family.
She was born January 22, 1962 in Randolph, VT a daughter of Harley and Betty (Dunn) Sanborn and was raised by her mother and dad Richard MacKay.
She attended school in Windsor and graduated from Lebanon High School. Sandra worked as a teacher's aid at the Hartland Elementary School while attending Vermont Technical College where she received a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education. She met and fell in love with Michael Place in 1988 and they were married May 2, 1998. Sandra continued her career serving children by working at Windsor County Headstart and later served as director of Flying Ducks Childcare at Mt. Ascutney Resort in Brownsville and then at the Lake Morey Resort Daycare in Fairlee, VT. She operated a daycare from her home from for a time and for the past ten years has worked at Health Care and Rehabilitative Services as a Crisis Intervention Specialist and Family Case Manager.
Sandra enjoyed auctions, yard sales and antiquing and loved finding a good deal but most all spending time with family.
She was predeceased by her mother in 2008 and is survived by her husband and dad of Windsor; her father of Washington state; three sons Aaron Thibodeau of Ascutney, VT, Joshua Thibodeau of Claremont, NH and Michael R. Place Jr. of Windsor; four granddaughters; a sister Virginia Yepez of Keller, TX as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor, VT Thursday from 1-3PM and 6-8PM. A funeral service will be held at the Rachel S. Harlow Church Friday at 10AM a reception will follow.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions maybe made to the Hospice Program at Mt. Ascutney Hospital & Health Center, 289 County Road, Windsor, VT 05089
