Claremont, NH – Sandra Ann Morancy, 77, died Sunday July 30, 2023 in her husbands arms, surrounded by her family, at the Jack Byrne Center for Palliative Care in Lebanon, NH.
She was born May 26, 1946, a daughter of Wallace and Anna (Harriman) Luce. Sandy was born with scoliosis and spent much time at the Boston Shriners Hospital when she was young. She was the queen of the 1960 Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl. Sandy graduated from Hartford High School and then attended college in Manchester, NH. During high school she worked at Powden's Jewelry Store in White River Jct., VT and continued to work there until her children were born. She married Walter W. Morancy May 18, 1969 and they made their home in White River Jct. where they raised their two children. After her children were older, Sandy returned to work at Dunham's Shoes in West Lebanon where she was assistant manager and after the store closed, she went to work at Hirsch's Clothing Store in Lebanon until they went out of business. Sandy and Walt moved to Claremont in 1999 and have lived there since.
Sandy enjoyed crocheting and knitting and made countless hats, mittens and baby blankets for family and friends over the years. She also enjoyed gardening and her cats.
She was predeceased by her parents, a sister, Linda Foster and brothers, Marcus, Wayne, and Wesley Luce.
Sandy is survived by her husband of nearly 55 years, Walter W. Morancy, Sr. of Claremont; daughter Meredith Pero (Keith) of White River Jct.; son Walter W. Morancy Jr. (Autumn) of Clarksville, NH; grandchildren, Cheyanne Pero and Remington and Hayden Morancy; brothers William Luce of Chester, VT, and Brian Luce of South Carolina as well as many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct. on Wednesday August 9th at 1PM.
