Ruth E. Wright, 76, a longtime resident of Windsor, passed away Monday evening, November 13 at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon.
She was born August 10, 1941 in Pawtucket, RI the daughter of William H. and Estelle (Grant) Cooke. She received her schooling in Pawtucket where she graduated from West High School in 1959. She married Dennis F. Wright in Norton, MA on February 11, 1961. They moved to Windsor in 1972. Ruth was employed as a nurse's aid at Cedar Manor Nursing Home in Windsor for several years before attending Claremont Community College in Claremont, NH, where she earned her nursing degree in 1979. She was then employed at Valley Regional Hospital in Claremont and most recently at Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center in Windsor until her retirement in 2007.
She was fond of knitting, playing computer games and Bingo. She was well known for her baking and cooking skills, and especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
She was predeceased by her parents and one son, David Wright.
Survivors include her husband of fifty six years, Dennis F. Wright of Windsor, one daughter, Susan Russell and her husband, Michael of Ascutney, VT, four sons, Jeffrey Wright and his wife, Kelly of Bradford, VT, Robert Wright and his wife, Lisa of Windsor, Kevin Wright and his wife, Betsy of Windsor, and Jere Wright and his wife, Kim of Deland, FL, two sisters, Leah Holloway and Laura Casey, both of Macon, GA, several grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Saturday evening, November 18 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor. Committal services will be held at the convenience of her family in the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph Center, VT.
