Ruth Cecilia (Lawrence) Nuttall passed away early Friday morning, October 19, at the age of 91. She was born January 2, 1921 in Rockland, MA The daughter of Fred and Nora Lawrence. Working hard and diligently she received a degree from Black River Academy (1938) and the Bishop DeGoesbriand Hospital School of Nursing (1944) earning her the right to be a Registered Nurse. Soon afterwards she volunteered for duty in WW II as an U.S, Army Nursing Corps Nurse. After the war she married George Wilson Nuttall and made a family of three boys (Edward, David and James) and one girl (Teresa). Watching her children grow was the love of her life. She cared for people all her life, not just the family, but through the Catholic Church, of which she was a devout follower. As her final display of kindness and caring, Ruth, donated her brain to a Trust Fund to conduct research on dystonia. Ruth enjoyed being with people and enjoyed making people happy. In her later years when she spent time in an assisted living home (Willows of Windsor), she often was the highlight of the crowd, always looking for an opportunity to put a smile on someone's face. Since she had spent the better part of her life in a nursing career, she had a strong desire to assist people. This carried over to her time at Cedar Hill Nursing Home in which she demonstrated her love of helping people. She was more concerned with the comfort of others than herself. Ruth had a positive disposition and will be dearly missed not only by her family but by the many friends that she acquired during her lifetime. She was predeceased by her husband George in 1991. She was the last surviving sibling of Nora and Fred. She is survived by her son Ed, his wife Helga and their son Alex and his wife Stacie and their two children Griffin & Tucker, her son David and his two children David Jr., and daughter Andrea, and his wife Toni, and Debi Jacques and her husband Tom with their two children, Thomas and Elayna, her son Jim and his wife Alice and their two children George II and Stefanie, and her daughter Teresa Gobin, her son Marty Mastic, and husband Kevin and their daughter Jessica. Ruth's cremated remains will be buried in Mount Olivet Cemetery on Hartford Ave., White River Junction, VT with her mother and father.
It was Ruth's wishes that donations in lieu of flowers should be made in support of dystonia research through McLean Brain Bank http://www.brainbank.mclean.org/
