PERKINSVILLE, VT
Ruth S. Moore, 89, a resident of Perkinsville, passed away Monday afternoon, September 3 at the Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center in Windsor.
She was born September 1, 1923 in Hartland, VT the daughter of John and Grace (Matice) Stillson. She received her schooling in Weathersfield and Windsor. She graduated from Windsor High School in 1942. She married Lawrence C. Moore in Ascutney on October 4, 1951 and had lived in Weathersfield for most of her married life. Mrs. Moore worked with her husband running their family farm in Perkinsville for many years. She also drove school bus for the Weathersfield School District for over twenty years and most recently was employed as a mail carrier in Perkinsville for nineteen years until her retirement in 1988.
Ruth enjoyed knitting, snowmobiling and camping.
She was predeceased by four brothers, Earl Stillson, Clarence Stillson, George Stillson and Ronald Stillson.
Survivors include her husband of sixty one years, Lawrence C. Moore of Perkinsville, two sons, Richard L. Moore and his wife Donna, of Chichester, NH and David T. Moore and his wife Karen, of Greenbush, VT, three grandchildren, Jason Moore of Concord, NH, Kelly Moore of Kittery, ME and Stacy Moore of Portland, ME, one great granddaughter, Allison Moore of Concord, NH, two sisters, Marjorie Stillson of Owingsville, KY and Prudence Russell of Ascutney, several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 15 at 2:00 PM at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor. A reception for family and friends will follow at the Weathersfield Middle School in Ascutney. Committal services will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date in the Ascutneyville Cemetery in Ascutney.
