Windsor, Vermont – Ruth I. Blanchard Gonthier Adams, 92, died Friday afternoon, January 29, 2016 at the Brookside Nursing Home in White River Jct., VT. She was born April 17, 1923 in Claremont, NH the daughter of Hubert and Gladys (Laskey) Blanchard.
She received her GED through Community College of Vermont. Ruth worked at Goodyear Tire and Rubber in Windsor, VT for many years. Ruth was married to Lewis I. Adams on July 1, 1950. She retired from Goodyear and attended Nurse Aid School in Springfield, VT. At the age of fifty, Ruth moved to Florida and stayed with her mother while she attended nursing school. She received her nursing degree and became a Licensed Practical Nurse when she was fifty-five. She returned to Windsor and worked at Hanson Court and then later at Brookside Nursing Home in White River Jct., VT. Later she worked at Mt. Ascutney Hospital and then finally at Cedar Hill Nursing Home both in Windsor, VT.
Ruth liked doing word find puzzles and loved to travel to the ocean.
She was predeceased by her husband, three bothers, Paul, Dick and Fred Blanchard and two sisters, Alice (Sally) Strout and Midge Riviezzo.
She is survived by a son, Hubert "Duff" Gonthier and his wife of Arlene of Woodsville, NH., three grandchildren, Eieinne, Aaron Sr. and his wife Angie and Michelle Gonthier, five great grandchildren, Aaron Jr., Joseph, Jeannette, Grace and Jonathan Gonthier, three sisters, Mary Larmie of NH, Flossie Strout of St. Cloud, FL and Anna Brown of Windsor, VT also several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held Saturday afternoon, February 6, from 1-3PM at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor, VT. A memorial service will be held immediately following at 3PM. Burial will be held May 10th in the Ascutney Cemetery in Windsor, VT
