CORNISH, NH

Ruby R. Stammers, 82, a resident of Cornish, passed away Monday morning, April 22 at her home in Cornish.

She was born January 21, 1937 in San Francisco, CA the daughter of Merrill A. and Frieda (Hyman) Akers. She received her schooling in Redwood City, CA where she graduated from Redwood City High School. She was a veteran of the US Army serving state side during the Korean Conflict. She married Donald W. Stammers on April 13, 1956 at the Presidio in San Francisco. Ruby worked in the ICU and in Medical Records at the former Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital in Hanover and more recently she was a LNA at Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center in Windsor until her retirement.

She was a member of the Claremont American Legion Post #29. She enjoyed taking trips to Maine and spending time at the seacoast and ocean. She was also fond of horseback riding, was an avid reader, and a collector of lighthouses. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

Survivors include her husband, Donald Stammers of Cornish, two sons, Tim Stammers and his wife, Janine of Canaan, NH, and Tom Stammers of Oregon, one daughter, Sharon Stammers-LaPlante of Chester, VT, one grandson, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one brother, Robert Akers.

At Mrs. Stammers' request there will be no formal public services, but a celebration of life at a later date..
