Ruby Louise Clark
White River Junction, VT – Ruby Louise Clark, 93, died Sunday June 21, 2015, at Brookside Nursing Home in Wilder, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.
She was born February 26, 1922 in Bethel, VT, a daughter of Samuel and Emma (Woolley) Bowen. Ruby attended school in Bethel's one room school house and married Leroy Osmer at the age of 18. They had three children together. She was remarried to Robert Clark at the age of 25. Ruby was a very hard worker and worked at several woolen mills around the Upper Valley before working at Tip Top Bakery in White River Junction. While working at Tip Top she served as the financial secretary for the Bakers and Confectioners International Union, Local 100 executive board. During this time she and her husband, Robert, started their own business, Clarks Used Cars, on Route 14 in Hartford. She also spent most of her weekends at her in-laws farm in South Royalton; cooking, cleaning, haying and doing other farm chores for them.
Ruby enjoyed her favorite things, including puzzles, planting and caring for her flowers in her yard, as well as collecting cooking recipes in the rare moments that she could find the time.
She was predeceased by her husbands, Leroy Osmer and Robert Clark; three sisters, Sarah Burnham, Bertha Bowen and Beatrice Blaisdell; a brother Richard Bowen; a granddaughter Robin Louise Stephens and a great-granddaughter Kelly Howard-Whitford.
Ruby is survived by a son Robin Osmer Sr. and his wife Brenda of Sanford, ME; two daughters, Jan (Osmer) Woodard of White River Junction and Kathy (Osmer) Ducharme and her husband Babe of Lakeland, FL; nine grandchildren; several step-grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a step-great-great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held Tuesday July 7th from 5-7PM at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Junction, VT. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 2PM on Wednesday July 8th with burial following in the Riverview Cemetery in South Royalton, VT.
