Windsor, VT - Roy Dean Houghton, 71, died on Wednesday, October 2, 2024. Roy was born on March 14, 1953, in Windsor, VT to Marjorie and Evan Houghton. He lived primarily in Windsor, VT for the entirety of his life with a few short stints in California and Wyoming.

Roy would often talk about growing up in a big family, always loving being outside and playing sports. He spoke glowingly about playing high school basketball with Jeff White, Harry Ladeau, and Daryl Farnsworth, who remained lifelong friends.

Roy loved his work and his kids immensely. Through his work he developed friendship after friendship, relationships he adored and would talk about often. Work was also a bond Roy had with his children. Whether it was teaching his son how to build and communicate or taking the weekend to work on his daughter's house, he was there to love and support through his work. Throughout his life, Roy built his carpentry skills and became a master craftsman. Whether he was building a house from the ground up or building a custom kitchen, he would go to great lengths to ensure everything was perfect.

The last 15 years of Roy's life became especially meaningful as he welcomed five grandchildren to the world. He loved his family and would fly to Minnesota or spend the weekend in New London to help. Roy was consistently there for his family and his strength and love will never be forgotten.

Roy was predeceased by his brother, Wayne and his sister, Ellen. He leaves behind his daughter, Hannah (Pete), son, Trevor (Brooke), and five grandchildren, Story, Island, Sage, Dean, and Mia, sisters, Susan, Penny, Pam, and Melanie, and brother, Elwin.

We invite all who knew Roy to join us in a celebration of life at 6 US Route 5 Hartland, VT on Saturday, October 19, 2024 from noon to three where we will share stories, laughter, and tears.
