Roy W. Chapman, 84, passed away Thursday January 19 at the Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington, VT. He was born May 15, 1927. Roy Chapman is a name widely heard around the Upper Valley. He accomplished many things while here on this earth. He was a dedicated Husband and provided his life and heart to his wife Evelyn Chapman, who passed away in 2004. In her name he strove to live a full life and in doing so he had many wonderful memories to pass on for generations to come. He was a WWII Veteran earning a Purple Heart among many other prestigious military honors. He wore many hats in his life, Sheriff, professional boxer and automotive mechanic to name a few. He wanted to make the world a better place. He ran a New Hampshire fish and game hunters safety course and encouraged the community to reach out and provide better elderly care. He will be best remembered by his family as a man who put others before himself and provided the strength a family needs. He leaves behind a daughter Eva Chapman and grandchildren Melissa Levesque, Tommy-Lee Woodward and Zoe Digby. Peace of Mind lies on the fact that he is now where he wants to be, in the arms of his wife's embrace.
The Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct., VT assisted with arrangements.
