Lebanon, NH—Rosalie Eva (Besaw) Mayotte, 78 passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 16th, 2017 following a stroke.
Rosalie was born November 9th, 1939 in Northbridge, MA the daughter of Leo Joseph and Elva May (LeClair) Besaw. Her family lived in Worcester and later moved to Manchaug, MA where she attended High School before going to Girl's Trade in Worcester where she learned to stitch. Rosalie worked as a seamstress at the Curtis Company in Worcester for many years.
Rosalie was married to Donald Mayotte on February 9th, 1957 in Worcester, MA. They made their home in Manchaug for a few years, before later settling in Worcester. They had 5 children—4 sons and 1 daughter. Rosalie was a city girl at heart but moved to Greystone Village in White River Junction with her son, John, to be closer to her children and grandchildren. She grew to love and appreciate Vermont, later moving to the Stoughton House in Windsor.
Rosalie had many joys in life; reading, playing bingo, watching movies, and doing her crossword puzzles, but none greater than the joy she got from spending time with her family. Rosalie truly embodied what it meant to be a mother—not just to her own children but to many others. All found comfort in her unconditional love and support. In addition to having been a loving mother and grandmother, Rosalie was also a very special friend. In her time at the Stoughton House she befriended many of the residents and staff and found great joy in the time she spent with them.
She was predeceased by her husband, Donald, in 1982; her son John Mayotte in February of this year and five brothers: Robert, Frederick, Dennis, Paul, and Ralph Besaw.
She leaves behind her daughter, Dawn (Mayotte) Daly and her husband Gary Daly of Worcester, MA; three sons Dennis Mayotte of Quechee, VT, Donald Mayotte and his wife Christina Mayotte of Hartford, VT and Steve Mayotte of Wilder, VT in addition to her 21 beloved grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Junction, VT on Monday, November 20th at 2:30PM.
