WEST WINDSOR, VT- Ronald F. Hammond, 86, a lifelong resident of West Windsor, passed away peacefully at his home in West Windsor on Friday morning, February 17. He was born at the same home on June 26, 1930 in West Windsor the son of Shirley J. and Ila (Dimick) Hammond.
He attended Windsor High School and Agricultural School in Randolph, VT. He worked driving truck and owned and operated a gas business for several years. He later was employed as a truck driver for Bud Blood Construction, and most recently for the Town of West Windsor Highway Department until his retirement in 1995.
Most of his life was proudly spent working the family farm in West Windsor. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and many friends. He loved watching old westerns and listening to country music.
He was predeceased by his parents, two sisters, Charlotte Richardson and Anne Despart, and one grandson, Jacob Hammond.
Survivors include his loving wife of sixty six years, Shirley (Sanderson) Hammond of West Windsor, two sons, Leslie Hammond and his wife, Cindy of West Windsor, Scott Hammond of West Windsor, four daughters, Charlene Steffen and her husband, Chester of Branson, MO, Krista Johnson and her husband, Gordon of West Windsor, Vicky Maheu of White River Jct., and Deena West and her husband, Edward of Brownsville, one sister, Jean Hunt of South Hero, VT, thirteen grandchildren, Mark, Jeffrey, Christopher, Jonathan, Lisa, Shirley, Jackie, Philip, Marrisa, Ryan, Molly, Cortland and Brandon, fifteen great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life will be held Wednesday, February 22 at 1:00 PM at the Brownsville Community Methodist Church in West Windsor, with Rev. Christian Huebner and Rev. Roxene Conroy, officiating. A reception for family and friends will follow in the church hall. Committal services will be held in the Spring in the Sheddsville Cemetery.
The Knight Funeral Home in Windsor is entrusted with the arrangements.
