Obituary

Roger T. Vaughan

Roger T. Vaughan, 69, died unexpectedly on Tuesday July 17, 2018, in his home in East Thetford, VT.

Roger was born February 23, 1949, to Robert C. and Lillian (Hill) Vaughan. He grew up and lived his entire life in East Thetford. He graduated from Thetford Academy in 1967 and began working full time on the family dairy farm. He married Martha Hoffman on his 25th birthday, February 23, 1974, in Elmira, NY. The couple raised their family together in East Thetford.

After retiring from Vaughan Farms a decade ago, Roger bought a Harley and rode it at every single opportunity. He went as far as to ride from coast to coast and see much of the United States for the first time. He was an avid backyard gardener—even selling some of his produce at his pop-up farm stand, Slim Picken's, along Pavillion Rd. He especially loved making folk art, crafting wooden objects, and displaying his lifelong rockhound collection and rusty antiques 'round the front yard.

Roger was predeceased by his parents, brother Robert C. Vaughan Jr., and sister Shirley Fortier.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Martha, of East Thetford; children, Eli C. Vaughan of Willits, CA and Victoria H. Vaughan of East Thetford; brothers, Ronald Vaughan of Newbury, VT and Russell Vaughan of East Thetford; sisters, Diane V. Eaton of Rochester, NY and Janice V. Mousley of East Thetford; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

There will be a Celebration of Life gathering sometime in September/October when the leaves start changing. Knight Funeral Home in White River Junction assisted with arrangements.
