Chelsea, VT – Roger L. Cheney, 87, died peacefully, Tuesday morning, September 6, 2022 at his home in Chelsea, VT. He was born December 6, 1934 in Hanover, NH the son of Ronald and Constance (Ladd) Cheney. Roger grew up in White River Jct., VT, graduated from Hartford High School in 1953 went on to serve in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was married to Pauline L. Wight on August 27, 1955 in Baltimore, MD.

When he completed his military service, he returned to Vermont where he lived his entire life. He and Pauline moved to Burlington, VT for a short time before returning to the Upper Valley area. Roger worked as a truck driver for many years, first at the White River Paper Company and then later at Oxygen Welding Supply, both located in White River Jct., VT. In 1988, they moved to St. Johnsbury, VT where they purchased and operated the Four Seasons Market and Deli. They retired to Brownsville, VT and then purchased property in Chelsea, VT where they have resided ever since.

Roger loved good food, which his wife provided in abundance. When Roger was in his eighties, he would go for motorcycle day trip with his son, Michael, something he found great joy in. Roger will be deeply missed by his children and grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife, Pauline who died August 11, 2009 and a son, Philip Cheney.

Roger is survived by two daughters, Mary Cheney of Chelsea, VT, Margaret Allard of Lyndonville, VT, Michael Cheney of White River Jct, VT, VT, five grandchildren, six great grandchild, nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct., VT on Saturday, September 10, from 1-2PM with a funeral service to follow at 2PM at the funeral home. Burial in the Hartford Cemetery in White River Jct., VT will be held next August 27, 2023 at noon.
