Obituary

Hartland, VT – Roberto Garcia, 83, life long resident of Hartland, VT died Sunday, July 21, 2019 at Mt. Ascutney Hospital in Windsor, VT.  He was born December 27, 1935 in Windsor, VT the son of Andres and Ramona (Solana) Garcia.

He grew up and attended Hartland Elementary School, graduated from Windsor High School in 1954 and then shortly after started his long career at Cone-Blanchard Machine Tool Company.

Roberto married Rachel Chamberlin in 1954.  They made their home in Hartland and had three children.  Later in 1979, he married Norma F. Ackerman.

He was a key person at Cone-Blanchard, running many different machines and working in several different departments including, milling, lathe, welding, heat treat and assembly.  Roberto retired with (number) years of service.  Along with his skills acquired at the shop, Roberto also learned auto body work at Roy Pecor's Body shop in White River Jct., VT.  He used all of these talents to restore countless antique automobiles including Model "A"s, Model "T"s, 1920's  European cars as well as Chevys, Dodges, Fords, of nearly any make or model right up through to a beautiful 1969 Corvette.  In their later years Norma and Roberto enjoyed making the rounds to all the local car shows and cruse nights.  He absolutely loved building, restoring and driving his old cars.  Roberto could and would fix anything if asked.  His kindness and generosity were shown to anyone who needed a helping hand.

Roberto was a member of the Hartford Elks Lodge in White River Jct. VT where he and Norma loved to go dancing.  During their retirement years Roberto and Norma also delivered cars for Garish Honda something they enjoyed doing for over twenty years.

He loved spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren.

Roberto is survived by his wife Norma of Hartland, VT, two daughters, Debbie Joslin and her husband Mitchell of Hartland, VT, Nini Bowes of Michigan, a son Yogi Garcia and his wife Jessica  of Hartland, VT,  step son, Keith Hilliard of Manchester, NH, step daughters, Jerrilyn Slade and her husband, Johnny Slade of Claremont, NH, Sheila Hilliard of East Thetford, VT,  six grandchildren, five great grandchildren, three step grandchildren and three step great grandchildren, brother Raul Garcia of Hartland, VT , sister Elisa Rice of White River Jct., VT as well as several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
